October 2005

All Niters
Wednesday, October 5 2005 -- Posted by Bozorgmehr

Last night, after arriving home from school at midnight, I realized I had a project to complete in math. So instead of taking a long desired sleep, I was forced stay awake a finish it. Normally, I would ask my professors for an extension to turn in the assignment, but after going to class on days of tests and quizzes only, my case loses all credibility.

On a side note, living at home is a pain and annoyance.

This weekend was dedicated to providing service to others. On Saturday, I participated in the National Make a Difference Day, where I was sent to home for assisted living. First, we put up fall decorations, and then I detached from the main group and helped a lady movie empty boxes. Finally, we played checkers against an older gentleman who clearly had an understanding of the owning. We had a great time.

On Saturday, I began volunteering at St. Mary's in the Emergency Room. My job is to essentially move patients to their designated rooms and hand the chart over the presiding nurse. Much to my surprise, I've found that I am taking more patients on a wheel-chair rather than on foot. Although I had preferred to shadow a physician in the ER, working in the triage area is an experience on its own.

Next weekend is fall break but before I get ahead of myself, I should probably focus on mid-terms this week.

P.S. The quote in the title is by Albert Einstein.
