Harry Potter 4
Friday, November 18 2005 -- Posted by Bozorgmehr

As you all know, Harry Potter 4 comes out in theaters tomorrow. Although I've read the first four books, I haven't seen any of the movies. However, I think I may see this one. This movie is rated PG-13, meaning there are more intense scenes, meaning it will be more appealing to adults.
Before I forget, the trailer to Superman Returns will also be showing with Harry Potter. I was quite thrilled to hear it.
On a final note, I do hope this movie breaks the $100 million mark in the box office. It's been a while since any movie has.

Something Twisted Come This Way
Monday, November 7 2005 -- Posted by Bozorgmehr

As many of you may have already heard, my hometown was hit by a tornado at two o’clock in the morning on Sunday. The tornado made a devastating pass through Bell Road, the street adjacent to our subdivision. While our house was spared from its onslaught, our neighbors were not so fortunate. This post is to tell people who have been trying to contact us that we are fine and unharmed (phones have not been working due to power outage and increased activity). Thanks to everyone for expressing their concerns.
I am going to assume you have some knowledge about the twister that hit southern Indiana so I can simply explain the story from my perspective.
Like any other typical, studious college student, my Saturday evening was spent at the university (U of E), cramming like crazy for a test I had the following Monday, which I hadn’t begun studying until the weekend. My friend (good ol` Bradley) and I had studied since 4:00pm with occasional break sessions. Brad called it a night around 1:30am (Sunday), and went back to his room. I chose to stay a bit longer and review the rest of my notes.
(Points of interest: I live at home in Newburgh and not on the university campus. Room we were studying in at UE had no windows, so we did not hear the rain, lightning, etc. In addition to its sound insulating qualities, the building prevents any signals reaching my cell phone, meaning I cannot receive or send any calls. Had I opted to leave the same time with Brad, I probably would have encountered the tornado on my way home.)
After studying for a bit longer, I decided to call my folks and let them know I was still on campus. When I went outside, I saw the heavy winds and rainfall, not an unusual site. Before I made any calls, though, I noticed two voice mail messages waiting to be read. The first was from my brother who told me to wait out the storm and then come home. The next message was from Brad who told me there was a tornado sighting in the Newburgh are and I should wait for an all clear before going home (I think he told me the tornado was passing through Bell Road, but I’m not certain). At this time, the sirens for a tornado alert start sounding. Growing a little concerned for the family, I give my bro’s cell a call: I get a “leave a voice mail message” after the first rings. I called my father and sister’s cell and the home phone, and receive the same message. Clearly not liking the situation, I call each number five times; I received no answer.
Fearing the worst, I realized I had two options: 1) ignore the sirens and head home, or 2) wait it out. Having watched enough movies to realize acting on impulse and making brash decisions is not a good idea, I stayed. During this time, I managed to receive a call from both my sister and brother, who explained their situation and told me they had no power (indicating why the phone wasn’t working). Again, they told me to wait out the storm.
I hate to cut the story short, but it’s 5am and I need to sleep. Remember, exam Monday (aka today). I’ll finish the story tomorrow night.

Answer to a Guestbook Inquiry

Apparently, some people have heard that I will be studying aboard in the near future. I suppose I'll take this time to shed light on the issue:
I will be studying at the U of E's (University of Evansville) oversee campus (Harlaxton College located in Grantham, England) during the spring semester of `06 (next semester, baby!.
I leave Jan 5 and reture Apr 29.
I am very excited.
I will only have 12 cr. hrs. worth of classes and plan to travel...a lot.
That should cover it for now. If anything else comes up, you'll be first ones to hear (well, maybe not).

The eternal darkness of the thoughtless mind
Saturday, November 5 2005 -- Posted by Bozorgmehr

Do you ever feel like you have something to say but you can never find a way say it? Yeah, I've been feelin` that way for about a month now. I have been trying to make a post on several occassions during this past month, but every time I got down to typin`, nothing would come to mind.
Many things have happened this past month (more like since school started) that has affected my life. I'd like to think most of it happened for the better, but there were clearly some troubled times. Most of it has to do with the amount of time I spend at school and homework. It seems no matter how hard I try, I'm just not good enough for anyone else (and by anyone else, I mean the people who evaluate the stuff I do - and yes, I am intentionally being vague; sorry). I tell myself that I'm doing this for my future and it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks...but encouragement is always nice.
I have come to this positive realization: true friends are great human beings (you're probably thinking "duh, Bo...you silly kid"). I don't think I could accurately explain what I mean, but trust me, it's there.
I'm gonna stop talking... If you made it this far, thanks for listening. Nite folks.
